Every day I get questions about #PRP Platelet Rich Plasma and it's amazing potential for hair regrowth in men and women because the word is spreading about its potential benefits for those with thinning hair.
Unfortunately, we see that more and more docs are offering this treatment without adequate diagnosis, without careful patient-selection, without quality equipment, NO measuring of platelet concentrates, not to mention careless, uncomfortable and improper application of the PRP, and especially... lack of tracking of results. It is frustrating.
After performing thousands of PRP procedures for scalp and hair in my practice, I can honestly say all of the above (and more) need to be addressed with care and consideration if we are to adequately help patients.
Sure, results can vary but as in any field uneducated patients and untrained docs are a high-risk recipe for disappointing results. The good news is that this National Hair Loss Awareness Month #NHLAM and in honor of #FollicleFriday we are getting the word out about what patients are good candidates for PRP hair regrowth and what physicians are qualified to perform these treatments and continuing our hand-on HairCoach training classes for doctors and other professionals who want to provide these treatments using best practices.
